Director of Tg1 Mario Orfeo is officially the new CEO of Rai. The decision has been taken by the Board at Viale Mazzini and the next step is to wait for the general assembly to formalize this decision with the partners of the company. The decision seems to be obvious and it will be followed by another meeting of the board for the official appointment. Unanimity will be hard to reach because board member Carlo Freccero has already announced he will vote against. By the way, Freccero has proposed himself as a CEO and requested from the Supervisory Committee a public hearing to decide the most competent applicant.
Mario Orfeo was born in 1966 and was director of Tg2 from 2009 to 2011, then he was appointed director of Tg1 in 2012. This role is officially unfilled now. Someone has already mention Antonio Di Bella as new director of Rainews24.
