Comcast abandons the war with Disney for the acquisition of 21st Century Fox’s assets and focuses on its goal to conquer Sky.
Comcast officially surrendered in the battle to acquire 21st Century Fox’s assets, leaving the way open for Disney which relaunched lastly with a $71 billion offer.
On the other hand, Comcast has no intention of giving up his grip to conquer the other prey, Sky. Already from 2016, Rupert Murdoch launched an offer to acquire the remaining 61% of the UK company’s shares not yet in his possession, and Comcast also offered a final £14.75 per share, i.e. £25.9 billion in total, 5% more than the £14 billion offered by Murdoch.
The prize is too important for the ongoing war between the two giants to end easily. In fact, both Disney and Comcast aim to obtain direct access to the 22,9 million subscribers of British pay-TV.
