The Technical and Scientific Committee has given the green light to Minister Dario Franceschini’s proposal for the gradual restart of the cinema sector.
“From April 26th – confirmed the Minister of Culture, Dario Franceschini – theatres, cinemas, museums and open-air events will be able to reopen with capacity limitation measures that we have discussed at length with the categories and exhibitors”.
Franceschini also explained that he had asked the TCS to “broaden participation in outdoor events, which I hope will exceed the current 400 people. We all need a summer with squares and streets that, compatibly with security, are full of shows, music, dance and drama”.
According to the announcement, cinemas will be able to reopen from April 26th in regions in the yellow zone. Capacity will be increased by 50%, up to a maximum of 500 seats for indoor cinemas and 1,000 seats for outdoor ones. For the time being, the national 10 p.m. curfew, the ban on the sale and consumption of food and beverages and the health protocols remain unchanged. At the moment, there are still a number of grey areas, and not everything has been defined in detail, but in the next few days, the Cts and the Ministry should define precise protocols and rules for this restart.
