The 78th edition of the Venice Film Festival is just around the corner. Starting tomorrow, 1 September 2021, the festival will guarantee attendance in compliance with the anti-Covid-19 measures.
As in the previous year, the edition will not give in to the difficulties created by the pandemic. This was also confirmed by Culture Minister Dario Franceschini: “This is an important signal for Italian cinema and also a wish to restart with theatres that will be full and safe again”.
The first day of the festival will open with the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement award to Roberto Benigni. The opening films will be Pedro Almodóvar’s Madres paralelas and Thomas Kruithof’s Les promesses.
