It was presented today at MAXXI in Rome the program of the 18th edition of Alice nella Città, the Roman festival dedicated to young people to be held in the capital from 15 to 25 October. Also this year Alice nella Città aims to become a pole of attraction for young people towards the world of cinema, through stories and themes that can involve them.
In addition to the usual setting of the Auditorium Ennio Morricone (formerly Auditorium Parco della Musica), this year there will be a second and illustrious location: for the first time in its history the Roma Convention Center “La Nuvola”, designed by the famous architect Massimiliano Fuksas, will host film screenings.
Fabia Bettini and Gianluca Giannelli, artistic directors of Alice nella Città, have identified the cardinal aspects of this edition: the body and its development, as a concept that is faced by all people during their growth, and the belonging, as the first response to the search for an individuality. This year’s edition will turn from a simple wind to an opportunity to start again.
There are 5 categories in this year’s edition:
- Concorso Alice nella Città where Gagarine by Fanny Liatard and Jérémy Trouilh will be presented;
- Fuori Concorso;
- Eventi Speciali, which will see a preview of the Disney short film Once Upon A Snowman;
- Panorama Italia, which among others will see the screening of Il mio corpo, documentary by Michele Pennetta;
- Concorso Cortometraggi, which this year is recognized as particularly important as a starting point for many young directors.
To these is added this year SINTONIE, a new line of research born to heal the limitations due to the Covid-19 pandemic: thanks to the collaboration with Alberto Barbera, Director of the Venice International Film Festival, five films from the venice kermesse have been selected and Alice nella Città will bring them in its spaces. Among the most awaited titles are The Predators by Pietro Castellitto, winner of the Orizzonti Award for Best Screenplay.
