Giancarlo Leone has been appointed as member of the Consiglio superiore del cinema e dell’audiovisivo (Superior Council of Cinema and Audiovisuals) through a ministerial decree on July 18 2019. The APA President will replace Sergio Silva, who leaves office, as the decree published on August the first says.
The Superior Council of Cinema and Audiovisuals (Consiglio superiore del cinema e dell’audiovisivo) created by the Legge Cinema (Cinema Law L.220/2016) “develops actions of counseling and support on the elaboration of sectorial policies, as well as the creation of instructions and general criteria regarding the destination of public resources for the funding of entertainment activities”. Usually, the Superior Council is formed by “eleven personalities of the entertainment sector with proven professional competence and also capacity in the legal, economic, administrative and management areas, and in compliance with the genre equality regulations, from the Ministro dei beni and the cultural and touristic activities, the three under the designation of the Unified Conference”.
Giancarlo Leone
A journalist and television manager, Giancarlo Leone started his career in Rai in 1983 as an editor in the Research and Studies division – Televideo. Between 1995 and 1999 he was Deputy Director and then TV Program Director, and Strategic Marketing Director for the TV Programming Offer, and Rai International Director. In 1999 he was appointed General Manager of Rai Cinema and in 2013 Director of Rai Uno. He taught Economy and Media Management at the Faculty of Economy of the Luiss Guido Carlo University of Rome. He is General Manager of Q10 Media and since April 12, 2017, President of the Television Producers Association (Associazione Produttori Televisivi); now Association of Audiovisual Producers (Associazione Produttori Audiovisivi).
