Apulia, hosting on average 70 productions every year, takes hold of the cinematographic industry in Italy. Right now there are loads of films and TV series active in the region, while the first “clap” for the highly anticipated Bond 25 will take place in August 2019.
Tolo Tolo is one of the recently finished productions in the region and also Checco Zalone’s debut as a film director.
The locations include Gargano and Salento. The movie, produced by Taodue Film, will be released on January 1st, 2020.
In August, Daniel Craig will arrive to Apulia to roll a new chapter of the 007 saga. In Gravina di Puglia, shooting for Bond 25,
directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga, will last two months. The movie is produced by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Universal Pictures, Eon Productions and Danjaq.
Carlo Verdone, instead, is in Salento for the shooting of Si vive una volta sola, produced by Filmauro, with the support of Apulia Film Commission and Apulia Region. The comedy, starring Anna Foglietta, Rocco Papaleo, Max Tortora and Carlo Verdone himself, tells the story of four doctors who are very competent in the operating room, but not as reliable in their private lives.
After filming in Trani, the legendary actress Sophia Loren is now in Bari on the set of La vita davanti a sé directed by her son Edoardo Ponti, who is at his second feature. The film, based on the novel The Life Before Us by Romain Garyi, is produced by Palomar.
Aldo, Giovanni e Giacomo have chosen Apulia for their comeback on set. Shooting for Odio l’estate, directed by Massimo Venier and produced by Agidi, with the support of Apulia Film Commission, has started on June 17th, 2019 and will last for two months.
The drama Spaccapietre, starring Salvatore Esposito, Genny Savastano in Gomorra – La serie, was filmed in Apulia in the past weeks. The Italian-French production is directed by Gianluca and Massimiliano De Serio and produced by La Sarraz Pictures, Shellac Sud and Rai Cinema, with the contribution of the MiBAC and with the support of Creative Europe and Apulia Film Commission.
In Taranto, shooting is in progress for the new TV series Il commissario Ricciardi, produced by Rai Fiction and Clemart. The series, starring Lino Guanciale in the role of the police commissioner, is directed by Alessandro D’Alatri.
On June 29th, 2019 shooting ended for Cops, TV series produced by Dry Media for Sky, with Claudio Bisio, Stefania Rocca and Pietro Sermonti. Director Luca Miniero has chosen Nardò, Galatina, Acaya and San Vito dei Normanni to tell the story of a small town where the police station has become unnecessary since nobody has committed a crime in years.
