The European Commission has approved Banijay Group’s $2.2 billion acquisition of Endemol Shine Group.
This deal leads the way to create the biggest production and distribution company in the world with an extensive catalogue of shows and series. Banijay will own almost 200 production in 23 countries.
The agreement provides Banijay ownership of series and formats including Black Mirror, Versailles, The Millennium Trilogy, Peaky Blinders, Big Brother, MasterChef, Survivor, Temptation Island, Wife Swap and The Island.
The European Commission’s anti-trust marks a major step towards the completion of the deal, which has faced numerous obstacles since being announced, including Covid-19 pandemic.
