No Italian films will compete for the Golden Palm at the 70th Cannes Film Festival, whose official selections were announced earlier today (with the exception of the Semaine de la Critique and the Quinziane des Réalisateurs, whose selected films will be announced respectively on 24 and 25 April).
In the section Un Certain Regard instead, two Italian films are present, namely Fortunata by Sergio Castellitto (Indigo Film, HT Film, with the contribution of MiBACT, Universal Pictures International Italy), with Jasmine Trinca, Stefano Accorsi and Alessandro Borghi, and Après la Guerre (Dopo la Guerra), first work by Annarita Zambrano (Sensito Films, Cinéma Defacto, Movimento Film, with the contribution of MiBACT, with the support of CNC, MEDIA, CICLIC, Fondation GAN, Région Acquitaine, Emilia Romagna Region, with the contribution of Unipol Banca), with Giuseppe Battiston and Barbora Bobulova, and French actors Charlotte Cétaire and Jean-Marc Barr. Moreover, always in the same section, there will be OUT by Gyorgy Kristof, a project that had been presented in Rome at the 2014 edition of the co-production market.
The official selection was presented by director Thierry Fremaux and by president Pierre Lescure. The complete selection can be found on the Festival official website.
