The 21st edition of Cartoons on the Bay has come to an end in Turin, promoted by Rai and organized by Rai Com, in collaboration with the Piedmont Region, Film Commission Torino Piemonte, and FIP Film Investments Piemonte.
The Festival showcased as well as 500 projects from more than fifty countries and registered a very high number of viewers. The winner of the Animated Feature Film section is the Italian-French Iqbal: Tale of Fearless Child (in Italian Iqbal: bambini senza paura), by Michel Fuzellier and Babak Payami, produced by Gertie, 2D3D Animations and Montparnasse Production.
The film, screened by MIA 2015, tells the story of a talented ten-year old body who in order to find money to buy some medicines for his brother who suffers from pneumonia, ends up being a slave in a rug factory. However thanks to his courage and his new friends- the other children in the factory- Iqbal plans a way to set himself free.
Italy has also won in the TV Series Preschool category with YoYo (Rai Fiction, Show Lab, GridAnimation, Telegael), devised by Rai Ragazzi Director, Massimo Liofredi.
