The innovative commissioning club, Atrium TV, founded by Sir Howard Stringer (former Sony President,) tells us about itself during the MIA2018 days.
In addition to presenting the amazing catalog of new original productions – including ‘Quasimodo’, a new series by the producers of ‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘One Giant Leap’ by veteran producer Mike Medavoy, an event series (airing from July 2019) to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the moon landing – EVP Content Dave Clarke describes the business model of ATRIUM TV. “Atrium”, explains Clarke, “is a club of 60 worldwide members that supports its members to access and produce tv series that they wouldn’t be able to produce on their own otherwise.” Clarke continues, “For the moment, the Atrium TV model is unique in its kind, but I expect that over time similar models will come up within the market.”
How to join the Atrium TV network? As revealed by the Content EVP, “You can enter the club only upon invitation, and it’s free of charge. We choose the members based on their availability to find financing. The door is still open,” as Clarke confirms, with an invitation to Italian producers, as well: “Presently, Atrium TV has 60 members, but there’s still space in our group and we don’t have Italian members, yet.”
