According to The Walt Disney Company (TWDC), streaming platform Disney+ has reached 54.5 million subscribers around the world.
After the success achieved last year in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Netherlands and Puerto Rico, the streaming service is now available in more than a dozen countries including the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Austria and Switzerland.
One month ago, the platform reached 50 million subs milestone. During the lockdown, imposed in many countries due to Covid-19 emergency, people have increased their use of the streaming services including Disney+. The Walt Disney Company has set a target between 60 and 90 million subscribers, but according to some analysts, the SVoD service could reach 130 million in five years.
The TWDC streaming provider offers twenty-six originals alongside Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic and The Simpsons content.
