The Emmy Awards nominations have been announced yesterday in Los Angeles. HBO triumphs once again with 110 nominations, starting with two important titles such as Westworld and Big Little Lies. Netflix is in second place with 91 nominations, thanks in particular to Stranger Things and The Crown. The Young Pope, the TV series by Paolo Sorrentino and produced by Wildside, gets two nominations: the first one for best cinematography, that will compete with Fargo, The Night Of, Big Little Lies and Black Mirror, and the second one for best production design: its rivals are The Handmaid’s Tale, Penny Dreadful and Westworld. This is the first time that an Italian TV series gets the Emmy nomination. Together with Westworld, the Saturday Night Live got the largest number of nominations, thanks to Trump impersonations made by Alec Baldwin. Game of Thrones is missing for the first time since 2011, but it’s a matter of dates because the seventh season will start in a few days, not in time for the award.
