The French government creates a measure in support of Public TV: of the 100 billion euros allocated to support culture, 70 million will be used to support the state television and the radio.
The funds will be disbursed over two years and will serve to stem the crisis born from the Covid-19 pandemic. France Télévision forecasts that this year’s revenues will be lower than those of 2019.
With the same measure, funds have been donated for two other important sectors: 483 million euros have been allocated to newspapers, while 165 million euros have been assigned to cinema. For this sector, a part will be used to cover the liabilities, around 60 million euros, generated by the current crisis, while the remaining 100 million euros will be invested for the restart of works.
