Global OTT revenues reached $83bn in 2019, according to a new report from Digital TV Research.
Worldwide income from OTT services – including SVoD, AVoD, rental, download to own (DTO) and electronic sell through (EST) – climbed from $67bn in 2018 and increased by $50bn from 2017.
From the 2019’s $16bn in additional OTT revenues, SVoD platforms contributed $12bn. Over the course of last year, SVoD revenues reached 58%, up from 41% in 2015. Meanwhile, AVoD revenues accounted for $24bn in 2019.
From the 138 countries studied, the top five commanded 72% of global revenues last year. OTT revenues exceeded $1bn in 13 countries in 2019.
