On June 19th, 2019 at the 59th Globo d’Oro, the Italian film award assigned by the Foreign Press Association, Bangla (What’s Next Italy|MIA 2018) and Butterfly (Italian Doc Screenings|MIA 2015) received respectively the award for the Best First Feature and for the Best Documentary. The award ceremony was held at Villa Wolkonsky, the British Ambassador Jill Morris and the Foreign Press Association President Patricia Thomas took part in the ceremony.
Bangla by Phaim Bhuiyan tells the story of an Italian young man, whose parents are from Bangladesh. The film is produced by Fandango and TIMvision.
Butterfly by Alessandro Cassigoli and Casey Kauffman tells the successes of Irma, a young boxing champion from Naples. The documentary is produced by Indyca and Rai Cinema, with the contribution of MiBAC and Piemonte Doc Film Fund.
