IPTV will continue to grow and, according to a report by Digital TV Research, it will overtake cable TV by 2026.
According to the study “Pay TV Forecast Update”, over the next five years IPTV users will increase by 63 million to 398 million.
Digital TV Research predicts that simultaneously the number of pay TV consumers will increase, reaching more than one billion subscribers.
The key market for these changes will be China. Of the 398 million IPTV users expected in 2026, 226 million will be Chinese.
This pattern should also repeat in the pay TV sector: China will still be the country with the most subscribers, followed by India. It is estimated that almost half a billion users will come from these countries.
