The 2019 edition of the Italy-Germany Co-production Development Fund is now open: applications may be submitted until December 14, 2018.
The Fund is aimed at feature film projects, regardless of their genre, produced under the co-production regime between Italy and Germany and intended for priority exploitation in cinemas.
In order to benefit from the aid, the co-produced works must include, on the one hand, at least one producer with registered office in Germany and, on the other hand, at least one producer with registered office in Italy. The notice of the Italy-Germany Co-production Development Fund states that the contribution of the majority co-producer may not exceed 80% and that of the minority co-producer may not be less than 20%; these financial contributions must also be commensurate with the technical and artistic participation of each co-producer. It is also provided that both producers, at the end of the development process, must submit a detailed production plan, supported by documentation proving contacts with any financial partners, distributors and broadcasters, as well as the final version of the screenplay.
The amount of the aid of Italy-Germany Co-production Development Fund, which is provided in the form of a non-refundable grant, must not exceed 80% of the total development costs and the sum of 30,000 euros per project. The grant will be paid in two ways: the first 60% following the signing of the agreement for the deliberate support between the beneficiary production company and the granting body; the remaining 40% following the presentation of a detailed report on the use of the grant, the latest version of the screenplay, a report on development costs and the final financial plan. The filming must also begin within two years of the first payment of the grant.
