Yesterday, July 17th, 2019, the six winning projects of the Bilateral Fund for the Development of Cinematographic Works in Co-production between Italy and Tunisia were announced.
With a budget of € 280.000 provided by the Directorate General for Cinema of MiBAC and by the Centre National du Cinéma et de L’image of Tunisi, the Fund is oriented for works that, without regard of their genre (fiction, animation or documentary), are looking for their first screenings in theatres. To be able to qualify, the films have to be made by at least one producer with legal address in Italy and one with legal address in Tunisia.
The total sum given to Italian works is of € 85.000 and the winners are the documentary Beit Essyouda – L’antro dei leoni and Residence Hammamet, and the docu-fiction Tabarka – La Storia del Mare che Unisce. Beit Essyouda – L’antro dei Leoni di Gaia Vianello e Khedija Lemkecher, co-produced by Small Boss and Cercina Film Productions, received a contribution of € 30.000. Residence Hammamet, by Salvatore Allocca and Emiliano Corapi, co-produced by Own Air and Rives Productions, has been given € 30.000. Tabarka – La Storia del Mare Che Unisce, by Habib Mestiri, co-produced by 77th International Agency and Free Productions, obtained € 25.000.
The three winning Tunisian projects have been given 120.000 dinars. The winning films are Une Semaine Sans Dieu by Mourad Ben Cheikh, co-produced by Cinetelefilms and Magda Films (50.000 dinars), La Guerre Vue Par Hannibal by Mohamed Damak, co-produced by CTV Services and Delphi Consulting (30.000 dinars), and 10.6.28 by Issam Bouguerra, a co-production by Godolphin Films and Maiora (40.000 dinars).
