The Undesecretary of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities Lucia Borgonzoni is going to China to renew the Italian government’s support to the ‘Progetto Cina’ (Project China) and to present the second edition of ‘From Venice to China’.
With the intention to consolidate synergies and encourage new relations between Italian and Chinese cinema systems, the Undesecretary of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities Lucia Borgonzoni has flown to Beijing. First of all, April 18, 2019 she will participate to Focus on Italy at the Beijing International Film Festival where she will underline the Italian government’s support to the Progetto Cina, with the satisfaction of Roberto Stabile, Head of International Relations of ANICA (Italian Film Audiovisual And Multimedia Industries Association) and in ITA (Italian Trade Agency). Progetto Cina is a task for dialogue between the Government, associations and members of civil society destined to strengthen the economic relations with China.
The second edition of From Venice to China will then be presented. The kermesse, hosted in Beijing during the 9th Beijing International Film Festival until 22 April, 2019, then in Chongqing from 20 to 26 May, 2019, presents a selection of films from the last Venice Film Festival. From Venice to China is organized by La Biennale di Venezia and ANICA for the Directorate-General for Cinema of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities with the collaboration of the Italian Embassy in Beijing and the Italian Cultural Institute and the contribution of Mise (Ministry Ministry of Economic Development) and of ICE-agenzia (Italian Trade & Investment Agency).
During her mission, Lucia Borgonzoni will meet, among others, the Chinese Minister of Culture and Tourism Luo Shugang and the president of China Film Co-production Corporation Miao Xiao Tian. She will also open the Italy-China co-production Forum in the presence of several Italian audiovisual sector professionists. Finally, the trip will be an excellent opportunity to invite the Chinese to the 4th edition of Focus on China at the next Venice Film Festival.
