Many movies presented in What’s Next Italy are going to be released in cinemas in March 2017. What’s Next Italy is the showcase of the Italian developing next movies that are exclusively presented to buyers during MIA.
Rosso Istanbul last movie by director Ferzan Ozpetek is now released. The film story is about an author that comes back to Istanbul, his hometown, from many years of voluntary absence. Shooted in Turk, Istanbul Kirmizisi is the original title, and with a complete turkey cast is produced by R&C Produzioni, BKM, Faros Film and Imaj with Rai Cinema.
Also in cinemas from March 2, Falchi by Toni D’Angelo a story of two young policeman (Fortunato Cerlino and Michele Riondino) in Napoli streets constantly fainting against criminality. The movie is produced by Minerva Picture, Bronx Film and Rai Cinema.
In cinemas, from the 9th of March, Il Padre d’Italia by Fabio Mollo produced by Bianca Film with the collaboration of Rai Cinema. The movies is about Paolo, (Luca Marinelli), a homosexual just out from a 8-year love story, and Mia (Isabella Ragonese), a pregnant woman looking for the child father. The will start a trip to the south to discover themselves.
Other two Italian movies ready to be released the 23 and 30 of March are: Non è un Paese per Giovani by Giovanni Veronesi (a coproduction between di Paco Cinematografica, Neo Art Producciones and Rai Cinema) and Classe Zeta by Guido Chiesa (Colorado Film Production).
Non è un Paese per Giovani (Filippo Scicchitano, Giovanni Anzaldo and Sara Serraiocco) is about Sandro that follows his dream to Cuba, with his friend Luciano. Here the love for a young girl and the amazing beauty of the island will change their life forever.
Classe Zeta is the story of a last year high school class created by the principal and mixed with the worst student of the school. (with Andrea Pisani, Alice Pagani, Greta Menchi, Enrico Oetiker and Antonio Catania).
Regarding foreign productions, two films screened at MIA Cinema will be released in Italy in March: Passeri, Islandic movie by Rúnar Rúnarsson, presented at the first 2015 MIA edition. The film is about Ari, a 16 years old boy who is compelled to move from Reykjavík, where he lives with his mother, to the small hometown of his father. The film is produced by Nimbus Film and will be released on March 2nd.
The second film is the spanish film Tarde Para la Ira by Raúl Arévalo, which will be released on 30th March. The film is produced by La Canica Films . It was presented at MIA 2016 and its plot is about Curro, a man whos been just released from jail where he spent 8 years, who dream s to restart a new life with his girlfriend Ana, but who will have to fight against Jose who has a has a Revenge feeling against Curro.
