Published by the Directorate-General for Cinema of the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism (MiBACT), the ranking list of contributions to festivals, film events, and awards of national and international relevance for the year 2017.
The Directorate General Cinema MiBACT has published the full list of contributions to festivals, film events, and awards, which adds up to an estimated amount of €4,272,000 for these three sectors. Approximately an 83% (€3,582,000) of all the contributions have been destined to festivals. First on the list, the Giffoni Film Festival with 850 thousand euros, followed by Venice Days (Giornate degli autori) with 220 thousand, and Noir in Festival and the “Mostra Internazionale del Nuovo Cinema” both with 160 thousand. Among the most popular festivals, we find the International Film Critics’ Week (Settimana Internazionale della Critica), which received €100 thousand, and Alice in the city (Alice nella città) with €130 thousand.
Film awards, instead, have received contributions amounting to €325,000. The Nastri d’Argento Awards, with the highest contribution, has collected €170,000, followed by the Solinas Award with €80,000 and the Fondazione Mimmo Rotella Award with €20,000. Finally, film events have gathered a total of €365,000. Those organized by the Fondazione Cineteca Italiana at the Spazio Oberdan and Metropolis 2.0 received €95,000, while €30,000 was allocated to Italian Movies (Promotion of Italian cinema in Central and Baltic Europe) and Italy on Screen Today – NEW YORK respectively.
