Following Suburra, Netflix bets again on Italian productions with Baby, a new eight-episodes show produced by Nicola De Angelis’s Fabula Pictures (pictured)
Inspired to the Baby Squillo scandal, a prostituition racket which involved several teenage girls of the rich Parioli district in Rome, the show will be developed as a teen drama about the lives of some Italian high school girls.
The show is written by the writing collective GRAMS, composed by Antonio Le Fosse, Eleonora Trucchi, Marco Raspanti, Giacomo Mazzariol, Re Salvador, Isabella Aguilar and Giacomo Durzi. It’s the third Netflix Italian production, after Suburra and a documentary about Juventus football team. Shooting are scheduled for 2018.
Erik Barmack, VP of International Originals at Netflix, said: “we’re proud to keep investing in Italy and Baby is representative of a new and edgy programming. We can’t wait to start working on it”. De Angelis added: “Netflix’s great creativity freedom allows us to experiment new stories which will be important for Italian tv productions”.
