Patrick Süskind’s bestseller Perfume: The Story of a Murderer has inspired a new series directed by Philipp Kadelbach that will be accessible on Netflix.
Patrick Süskind’s sublime novel, Perfume: The Story of a Murderer, published in 1985 and brought to the big screen by Tom Tykwer in 2006, has now been adapted into a new series directed by Philipp Kadelbach (known for series such as the Emmy award-winning Generation War and SS-GB). Scripted by Eva Kranenburg and produced by Constantin Film Produktion, in co-operation with Netflix, the series was shot in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia from August to December 2017. Featuring among the cast are Friederike Becht (The Reader), Juergen Maurer (Tatort), Wotan Wilke Möhring (Valkyrie) and Natalia Belitski.
The first two episodes’ world premiered will be held at the Munich Film Festival this year (28 June – 7 July 2018), and six episodes will be released on on ZDFneo this autumn. After that, viewers outside of Germany will also be able to access the series on Netflix.
