Rai Boards of Directors meeting ended with a very foregone conclusion for many: the news plan proposed by the CEO Antonio Campo Dall’Orto have beenrejected by five votes (the President Monica Maggioni and the board members Arturo Diaconale, Franco Siddi, Rita Borioni and Giancarlo Mazzuca) to one (Guelfo Guelfi) and two abstentions (Marco Fortis and Carlo Freccero). The 2017 broadcasting and production plans have been approved unanimously for mainstream and specialized channels until September 15.
The future of the Rai management is unclear and officially in crisis: resignation of Campo Dall’Orto are very likely even though nothing has been announced yetpending the meeting scheduled for the coming days of the CEO with Minister Padoan. The members of the board are divided on the subject: some of them, such as Freccero and Borioni, think that Campo Dall’Orto should continue his mandate on condition that “damaged relationships of trust must be rebuilt”; the others, such as Diaconale or Siddi, claim that “it’s time for everyone to make his or her own assessments and think what’s best for the company”. However, a name for a potential successor is missing, after the President of APT Giancarlo Leone said not to be interested in standing for the office.
