The Regione Siciliana Department for Cultural Heritage and Sicilian Identity invests five million euros for the improvement of cinemas in Sicily.
With this announcement, the overall recovery project of the cine-theatrical structures of Sicily is integrated. The planned interventions concern:
A. reactivation of closed or disused cinemas;
B. creation of new cinemas;
C. transformation of existing cinemas or multiplexes in the city with the aim of increasing the number of screens;
D. restructuring and structural and technological adaptation of the rooms; installation, renovation, renewal of systems, equipment, furnishings and complementary services to the rooms.
Only cinema business companies and non-profit entities with registered offices in Sicily can participate in the call.
Each company can present only one project referring to the entire cinema structure, be it single screen theatre or multiplex. Directly managed companies will be able to obtain a contribution of up to 70% of the admissible expenses with a maximum of 100,000.00 euros. Non-profit entities, on the other hand, will be able to obtain up to 100% reimbursement of expenses with a maximum investment of 50,000.00 euros.
