A new budget of € 2.2 billion has been foreseen for the Creative Europe 2021-2027 program: it marks a significant increase over the 2014-2020 program budget.
The decision is part of a larger € 16 billion compromise package on the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF), which includes other important European programs, such as Horizon Europe, InvestEu, Erasmus +, and so on.
Massimiliano Smeriglio (S&D, IT), European Parliament Rapporteur for Creative Europe 2021-2027, has declared: “An important attention from Europe to the world of culture and the audiovisual sector, at a time when the pandemic is putting workers in the creative and cultural sectors in serious difficulty. Thanks to the rapporteurs of the European Parliament for the Multiannual Financial Framework, the members of the Culture and Education Committee and the President of the European Parliament David Sassoli, who was convinced of his efforts to achieve this result”.
