The documentary West of Babylonia, which is director Emanuele Mengotti‘s first work, has been selected at the Biografilm Festival, in the competitive section Biografilm Italia.
West of Babylonia tells the story of the Slab City community, which has decided to live away from the comfort of modern society in the Californian desert, without law, tap water and electricity.
The documentary is completely independent and self-produced and was made by director Mengotti and director of photography Marco Tomaselli, who lived in close contact with the “Slabbers”, establishing a relationship of trust with the whole community.
The movie was presented at MIA 2019, within the Italians Doc It Better section.
