Great participation in the multiplex Quattro Fontane for the Panel “The Dramatic Boom”. During the event, leading Italian and international managers shared their experiences and ideas on globalization in the drama sector.
Speakers were Katie O’Connell Marsh (CEO, Platform One Media), Sean Furst (Co-President of TV and Film, Skybound Entertainment), Eleonora Andreatta (Head of Drama, RAI Fiction), Nils Hartmann (Director of Original Productions, SKY Italia). The moderator was Carlo Dusi (EVP Commercial Strategy, Scripted Red Arros Studios International).
The central element of the discussion was the desire to produce TV series of international appeal, but still linked to their country of origin as happened for Narcos and Colombia.
Another element dealt with by the speakers was the need for international collaboration in this field. Eleonora Andreatta, Head of Drama at RAI Fiction, reminded the audience that the Italian broadcaster had already committed itself to this sector: “for the TV series I Medici we used a large American showrunner, Frank Spotniz, who provided strong support, building a narrative structure capable of involving a universal audience”. A similar project is currently being carried out by Skybound Entertainment, as the co-president of TV and film Sean Furst said: “Recently we launched an international joint venture with Sony that will also arrive in Italy”.
The discussion then moved on to OTT and VOD, and on this occasion Eleonora Andreatta wanted to emphasize the commitment of RAI to keep up with the times “RaiPlay is a growing platform – she told the audience – through which we want to reach young people, presenting a product they are familiar and they already know how to relate with.
