The reopening of sets and productions that had been interrupted due to the Covid-19 pandemic and its lock-down continues. Among the many projects in recovery, “Mission Impossible 7”, starring Tom Cruise.
The film, the seventh in the successful series starring the spy Ethan Hunt, had been blocked in February. Tom Cruise is expected to return to shoot in Venice at the end of September, and Cinecittà Studios have already provided Paramount with an operational office.
The capital’s studios now host several stagings, both national and international: among the first to restart “Domina”, a Sky TV series produced by the Italian company Cattleya and the British Fifty Fathoms Productions, focuses on the power struggles of Imperial Rome and the figure of Livia Drusilla, played by Kasia Smutniak.
In the studios of Rome various other projects proceed: “Leonora addio” by Paolo Taviani, based on the homonym novel by Luigi Pirandello, “Lei mi parla ancora” by Pupi Avati and the new comedy by Neri Parenti, “Natale su Marte”.
According to Pino D’Arino, Head of Production of Cinecittà, the resumption of work has led to a strong need for space to shoot, and it is hoped that this will lead to an increase in employment in the sector.
Marco Valerio Pugini, producer and director of Panorama Films, said that Italy, if it was one of the first countries to close the sets for the pandemic, was also one of the first to reopen them.
