Tom Holland, who first appeared as Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War in 2016, would whole-heartedly embrace the idea of his superhero being gay. The actor reprised his role in Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame, hitting theaters in April 2019. His latest Spider-Man film Spider-Man: Far From Home will come out in Italian theaters on July 10th, 2019.
In an interview with The Sunday Times, the actor playing Peter Parker in the Marvel Cinematic Universe said he would be open to his superhero coming out as gay. “I can’t talk about the future of the character because honestly I don’t know and it’s out of my hands. But I do know a lot about the future of Marvel, and they are going to be representing lots of different people in the next few years”, he said. The 23-year-old actor added “the world isn’t as simple as a straight white guy. It doesn’t end there, and these films need to represent more than one type of person.”
