The world wants the truth and the television and cinematographic storytelling fits to this new trend. The successful docu-series Ignoto 1, on the hunt for Yara Gambirasio’s killer, followed by the sought-after Mafia Capitale, reconstructing the Roman crime network led by Massimo Carminati, is proving this fact. The biopic The Music of Silence (La Musica del Silenzio), based on Andrea Bocelli’s life, is part of this genre and will be in theatres in a few days.
The film, directed by Michael Radford (The Postman: The Postman and The Merchant of Venice) and written by Anna Pavignano and Radford, tells the personal and musical journey of Amos Brandi, Andrea Bocelli’s alter ego, with an international cast. British actor and musician Tony Sebastian will play the famous tenor; Antonio Banderas is his music teacher, Jordi Mollà and Luisa Ranieri will be his parents; Ennio Fantastichini is the uncle; Nadir Castelli will be his wife, while Bocelli will do a cameo.
The Music of Silence will be premiered worldwide on Sunday, September 17 at 7 p.m. at the Cinema Odeon in Florence: Maestro Andrea Bocelli, director Michael Radford and actress Luisa Ranieri will be present at the event.
The movie was supported by the Toscana Film Commission for shooting in the province of Pisa.
Thanks to the Progetto Cinemanchìo, The Music of Silence will be available for blind and deaf people. Moreover, there will be facilitated subtitles (embedded in the screening) and the audio description (downloadable in the specifically created app), which have already been incorporated in the production and synchronised with the film. The latter will be available on TV, tablet and smartphone.
Produced by Roberto Sessa for Picomedia, with Andrea Iervolino and Monika Bacardi for AMBI Media Group and in collaboration with Rai Fiction and distributed by QMI Stardust, the theatrical release of The Music of Silence in Italy is planned for 18, 19 and 20 September.
