The Match Factory has sold The Traitor (Il traditore) in 24 countries. The film was presented at the 72nd edition of the Cannes Film Festival, which ended last Saturday 25 May, 2019, and it is directed by Marco Bellocchio. The protagonists of the thriller are Pierfrancesco Favino, Maria Fernanda Cândido and Luigi Lo Cascio.
Sony Pictures Classics will distribute The Traitor in North America, Latin America, Scandinavia and Australia. The film will also be released in France (distributed by Ad Vitam), Spain (Vertigo), Germany (Pandora), Belgium, The Netherlands and Luxembourg (Cinemien), Japan (Klockworx), China (Road Pictures), Poland (Gutek) , Greece (Seven), Russia (Magic Films), Czech Republic and Slovenia (Aerofilms), Portugal (Alambique), Austria (Filmladen), Hungary (Mozinet), Romania (Independenta) and Bulgaria (Artfest). Finally, MFC Megacom will handle distribution in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Slovenia.
