Italy gets to the third position as a distributor in Japan, thanks also to the help of the Tokyo Italian Film Festival (Festival del cinema italiano di Tokyo). Here are all the Italian films that could conquer among the Japanese audience.
The Tokyo Italian Film Festival, in its 18th edition, has certainly helped Italy to conquer the third position for its foreign distribution in the Japanese market. This data, in fact, show that about 60% of the films presented at the Festival are set to be distributed in the country. The appointment will be in Tokyo from April 27th to May 4th.
In the 2018 edition of the festival, among the selected titles we will find: Fabio Mollo’s There is a Light, Sicilian Ghost Story by Antonio Piazza and Fabio Grassadonia, Lucky by Sergio Castellitto, Jonas Carpignano’s A Ciambra, The Intruder by Leonardo Di Costanzo , The Place by Paolo Genovese, I Can Quit Whenever I Want: Ad Honorem by Sydney Sibilia, Riccardo Milani’s Come un gatto in tangenziale, Made in Italy by Luciano Ligabue, Tito e gli alieni by Paola Randi, and Roberto De Paolis’s Pure Hearts. As for the films presented at the Festival which already have a Japanese distributor we can find: Love and Bullets by Antonio and Marco Manetti, Emma (Il colore nascosto delle cose) by Silvio Soldini and Holding Hands (La tenerezza) by Gianni Amelio.
The group of artists who will go to Tokyo to represent Italy will be composed of Luciano Ligabue, Kasia Smutniak, Jasmine Trinca, Leonardo di Costanzo, Roberto De Paolis, Manetti Bros, Antonio Piazza and Sydney Sibilia. The Tokyo Italian Film Festival is organized by Istituto Luce Cinecittà – Filmitalia in collaboration with the Italian Embassy and the Istituto Italiano di Cultura, under the patronage of the President of the Italian Republic.
