Following the example of such pioneers as Netflix and Amazons and other platforms such as Facebook or YouTube, also Twitter bets on live streaming, thus confirming that today this service is essential for a media company’s survival. That is why the Californian company signed an agreement with sixteen firms for 24 hour live broadcast.
Among the participating companies are Bloomberg, Buzzfeed, Vox Media, The Verge, Viacom and Live Nation. The service is due to start in next autumn and it is part of a “re-birthing” strategy of the social micro blogging. 2017 started with a higher balance compared to the expectations, raising new hopes for the company that in 2016 had even considered to go on sale.
There are news for Italy too: Twitter has announced that Sky Italia will be the official dealer, the first media company in our country has always paid attention to make the vision experience a unique experience for its subscribers. The agreement will become operational next May 2017.
