The 76th edition of the Venice International Film Festival closed on Saturday night, September 7th, 2019. The awards ceremony took place in the historic Sala Grande.
Joker by Todd Philips took home the Golden Lion for Best Film. The film, starring Joaquin Phoenix as Batman’s antagonist, is produced by Creative Wealth Media Finance, DC Comics, DC Entertainment, Joint Effort, and Warner Bros., in association with BRON Studios and Village Roadshow Pictures. Italian actor Luca Marinelli has won the Coppa Volpi for Best Actor for his role in Martin Eden. The film by Pietro Marcello, based on the novel by Jack London, is produced by Avventurosa, IBC Movie, and Rai Cinema, in co-production with Shellac Sud and Match Factory Productions, and in association with Arte.
