The 74th Venice Film Festival will host the first ever competition dedicated exclusively to virtual reality: the Venice Virtual Reality will be held August 31 to September 5 in the VR Theatre at the Casino Palace. The jury, made up of five personalities of the creative world will award three prizes, Best VR Film, Grand VR Jury Prize, Best VR Creativity Award.
Furthermore, last January the Biennale College Cinema of Venice launched a section entirely dedicated to Virtual Reality: 9 teams composed of a director and a producer will develop virtual reality projects lasting ten to twenty minutes. Among the selected projects is also Chromatica, with Flavio Costa as director and Laura Catalano as producer. Two of the nine films will receive a 30,000 euros contribution thanks to the support of Sony Corporation and will be screened during the Festival. All projects will enjoy visibility at the Venice Production Bridge, where eight more VR projects will be presented, for a total of fifteen productions.
