Damian Jones was the protagonist of a close encounter in the context of ‘X Rays on UK’, an event created in collaboration with the British Film Institute (BFI), the British Council and the British Embassy in Rome.
The well-known British film producer, whose career lists more than thirty-five feature films, took part in the second rendezvous of ‘X Rays on UK’ where he expressed his point of view on the film production arena of Great Britain. ‘It’s very important to have original and creative ideas,’ says Jones, ‘we have to stand out from the crowd, be different, fresh and innovative.’
Regarding the BFI-British Film Institute, he later noted that “the support of the institute was crucial for the career of many people.”
Damian Jones has brilliantly collaborated with several key international talents in the production of art and commercial films, including the Oscar winner ‘The Iron Lady’ (Phyllida Lloyd,) ‘Lady In The Van’ ( Nick Hytner,) ‘Belle’ (Amma Asante,) ‘Welcome to Sarajevo’ (Michael Winterbottom,) ‘Millions’ (Danny Boyle,) ‘Goodbye Christopher Robin’ (Simon Curtis,) ‘Sex, Drugs&Rock&Roll’ (Matt Whitecross,) ‘The History Boys’ (Nick Hytner,) ‘L’esercito di papà’ (Oliver Parker,) ‘Kidulthood’ (Noel Clarke) and ‘Absolutely Fabulous The Movie’ (Mandie Fletcher.) Other credits include ‘Powder Room’ by M.J.Delaney, ‘Splendor’ by Gregg Araki, ‘Fast Girls’ by Regan Hall, and ‘Gridlock’d’ by Vondie Curtis-Halls.
He is currently shooting MONDAY, written and directed by Agyris Papadimitropoulos with Sebastian Stan and Denise Gough, and the project Untitled Michael Winterbottom starring Steve Coogan. As executive producer, he’s working on the directing debut of Romola Garai ‘Outside’ and has a framework agreement with Fox Searchlight.
